The challenge

Aveanna Healthcare’s electronic visit verification (EVV) app was underperforming and difficult for caregivers to adopt. The system wasn’t fully compatible with their EMR, creating manual workarounds, and the user experience didn’t account for the varying technical comfort of their 30,000 nurses, therapists, and aides. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Aveanna faced a new challenge: rapidly certifying caregivers as essential workers to ensure uninterrupted patient care, all while maintaining security and compliance across multiple states.

7Factor reworked the EVV app, integrating it properly with Aveanna’s EMR, strengthening security with HIPAA-compliant networking, and redesigning the UX for simplicity and adoption. When the pandemic created urgent demand for electronic badges, we leveraged Workday integration and a custom Python proxy to deliver credentials to caregivers in seconds. The result is a high-performing, secure platform that caregivers can use intuitively, enabling rapid response to emergencies while supporting scalable, cloud-based healthcare IT.
