AWS infrastructure update gets artists paid faster.
The challenge
Wright Business Management Group founder Todd Wright knew his clients needed an easier way to track and receive royalty splits. Due to unclear song split agreements, U.S. Performing Rights Organizations had accumulated hundreds of millions to billions in unpaid royalties. Wright launched SongSplits to tackle this black box problem, but immediately faced two obstacles: no single source of truth for royalty distributions and a non-scalable MVP built in raw PHP that couldn’t support rapid growth.

Our Solution
In just one month and two days, 7Factor rebuilt the application in PHP using the Laravel framework for speed, security, and standardization. The platform runs on AWS with Concourse and Terraform and includes checks to verify accurate splits, protecting against litigation. Our engineers also parsed the legacy database to normalize and deduplicate records, while integrating online payments to speed royalties to artists’ bank accounts.
